Elizabeth Marcellino is a freelance journalist and writer who lives in Los Angeles. She covers county politics and criminal courts for regional wire service City News Service and leans toward arts and culture pieces as a freelancer. That said, she’s written about everything from geo-engineering climate change solutions to billionaire philanthropists.
Her work has been published by the Los Angeles Daily News, Malibu Magazine, Orange County Register, KNBC (nbclosangeles.com), KPCC (scpr.org), Press-Telegram and Daily Breeze, among others.
As an investment banker and portfolio manager for Goldman Sachs in her pre-journalism career, Elizabeth sharpened her research and analytical skills and learned how to break down complex ideas into plain English. Working against short deadlines with unrelenting attention to detail was a way of life long before she began writing and reporting full-time.
She holds an M.B.A. from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. Her undergraduate degree in economics is from UCLA, where she has also taken many journalism and writing classes. In between assignments, Elizabeth is at work on a novel.
